Buchanan Rolling In Dough

This is why the failure to accurately count everyone's votes in 2006 is such a problem:

Florida frosh reps Ron Klein, a Boca Raton Democrat, and Vern Buchanan, a Sarasota Republican, placed fourth and 10th, respectively, in the top 10 list of House fundraisers compiled by CQ Politics.

Klein pulled in $1.8 million in the first three fundraising quarters; Buchanan raised $1.4 million.

Luckily, we find out more and more that ideas and hard work can defeat the big bucks. But if the voting machines cheat you out of that victory, it doesn't really matter, does it? Maybe this time around, Christine Jennings or one of the other Democratic challengers for this seat will get their votes counted.

Vern Loves Bush

Pushing Rope notes the percentage of the time Florida Republicans vote in line with President Bush, one of the worst presidents in American history. Not surprisingly, Vern loves Bush:

2007 - 73%

Vern is a Target

Naked Politics:

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is running a week of radio ads to target three Florida Republicans - Reps. Vern Buchanan of Sarasota, Tom Feeney of Oviedo and Bill Young of St. Petersburg.

DCCC chair Rep. Chris Van Hollen said the three will be targeted for voting against a proposal to expand health insurance to children. Only 5 Republicans voted for the bill and President Bush has threatened a veto.

"Republicans who continue to vote in lockstep with President Bush and against seniors and children in their districts will be held accountable," Van Hollen said.
